Each had "real" personalities, not cookie cutter personalities that were predictable. I think this is a wonderful start to a great series (from what I hear from EVERYONE!) It was a unique beginning that was GREAT! I loved the characters. With Suzanne Toren's lyrical narration, each scene, whether tender or violent, takes on added emotional depth.
